April 14, 1928 WINNETKA TALK WINNETKANS TO STAGE ARDEN SHORE "DRAMA" All Residents to Take Part by Making Contributions for Rest Camp in Annual Drive (Contributed) A great drama that will interest the entire north shore and particularly Winnetka, which happens to be the home of all the actors taking part, will be staged here the first week in May, and plans are already on foot to have every man, woman, and child in the Village be spectator and actor as well as stockholder. The plot is most soul-gripping and spell-binding and has interest for every resident here. (The patents and copyrights for the story are, unlike most releases, free for the public; so it has been possible to get very valu- able advance information as to the thrilling details.) The part of the heroine of the play is shared by Mrs. Kind Hearted and Miss Share-our Blessings, while the hero is our old time favorite, Mr. Gen- erous Giver. Others important in the cast are General Chairman and her able sister, "Co" Chairman, Mrs. Dis- trict Chairman, and that able and spirited Block Canvasser. The action of the play is powerful in its very simplicity with no over- acting or boring pageantry to detract from the main vital interest of the plot. Each year there is a large quota of new- comers to Winnetka, to whom we gladly explain that Arden Shore is a rest and building-up camp for under- nourished boys each winter, and gives a much-needed and well-planned sum- mer vacation to thousands of mothers and children each summer. Dr. Elizabeth Roten to Address P.T. A. at Skokie School Monday A famous and altogether charming German educator, in the person of Dr. Elizabeth Roten, will speak in the Jane Kuppenheimer Memorial hall of Skokie school, on Monday, April 16, at 8 o'clock, under the auspices of the Winnetka Parent-Teacher association. The Parent-Teacher association of North Shore Country Day school is to be the guest of the Winnetka associ- ation for this occasion. Dr. Roten, who spoke repeatedly at the Locarno World Conference on the New Educa- tion, last summer, and is editor of the German New Education Journal, speaks English perfectly and brings to us an intensely interesting and new point of view. Her topic is "The In- ternational Youth Movement." It is hoped that all parents and their friends will attend this unusual lecture. There is, of course, no admission charge.
