The Winnetka trio went to Spring- field last week-end as guests of the Weaver company. Eddy, retired Illinois National Guard officer, died at his home, 543 Oakdale avenue, Glen- coe, Monday, April 9. General Eddy was born in Warren, R. I. He was 70 years old and had been ill for several months. He had had a long and honorable military career. He enlisted in the old First Illinois Infantry December 13, 1879, and, passing through the intervening grades, was a Major in command of the first battalion during the Spanish war and saw serv- ice at Santiago de Cuba. . He was Lieutenant Colonel of the 13Ist in- fantry in the World war and fought at Chipilly Ridge and in the Meuse- Argonne battle. Funeral services were held Thurs- day at Graceland cemetery, with mili- tary honors by his old regiment. General Eddy is* survived by his widow and two children, James M. Eddy, Jr, and Mrs. Marian Eddy Goss. Pall bearers at the services Thurs- day were: Maj. Gen. Abel Davis, Lt. Col. B. O. Buchanan, Maj. George M. Malstrom, Capt. Herman Weimer, Capt.
