Fire Causes $1,000 Damage to Apartment A fire originating in the boiler and storage room section of the apartment building at 916-20 Linden avenue, Hub- bard Woods, resulted in damage to the extent of about $1,000 Wednesday eve- ning. The fire occurred about 6 o'clock, a short time after some goods had been removed from one of the storage rooms, and was confined to that section, but smoke permeated some of the apartments. Backfire Ignites Car, Belonging to G. R. Work The Winnetka Fire department was called to the residence of G. R. Work, 525 Ash street, Wednesday morning at 10:50 to extinguish a fire in a car in the garage at that number. The blaze, resulting from a back-fire in starting the motor, was confined under the hood and extinguished before material damage resulted.
