April 21, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 11 Francis X. Busch to Be Counsel on Grade Separation Recommendations have been made that Francis X. Busch, former cor- poration counsel of Chicago during the administration of Mayor William E. Dever, be retained as legal advisor to the North Shore Grade Separation committee. An engineer has also been virtually decided upon, it is said. Pres- ident Henry F. Tenny, of Winnetka, President W. D. Gerber of Glencoe, and Paul O. Hoffman of Wilmette comprise the committee making recom- mendations, which will very soon be presented to the boards of the various north shore villages for their approval. It is proposed that each village shall pay its proportionate share of the ex- pense of the work undertaken by the Grade Separation committee, includ- ing the retention of an attorney and an engineer, the assessment being made in proportion to the real estate valuations of the several villages. This also is a matter which will later be taken before the village boards for approval. New Trier Ball Squad Preps for Opening Game Baseball practice at New Trier High school during the spring vacation was in evidence only one day, due to the rather damp weather conditions. Coach Ashenbach, however, took advantage of this one day to run the whole squad through batting. and fielding practice and ended the day with a three-inning game between a temporary first. and second team. A large squad reported for practice. Members of last year's squad are, al- most without exception, back again this year. There are Munn, Nelson, and Borncamp, catchers; Markley and Vail, at first: Munn and Nord at sec- ond; Huffman and Saxton at third; H. Hicks and Hill at short; while Deinlein, Rossiter, and W. Thompson are the only last year's outfielders who have thus far made their appearances. Of the pitchers, Wagner and Brown worked in the abbreviated game, and both seemed fairly effective. The score was 5 to 3 in favor of the first team. Much balmy weather is the one thing which the squad needs, for thus far there have been only two days of practice, and the first scheduled game of the season is less than two weeks away. UNABLE TO ATTEND CLASS George .Oberteuffer, instructor for the evening painting class sponsored by the North Shore Art league, has been unable to attend for some time, owing to the severe illness of his son. Nevertheless the class, which has greatly appreciated and profited by the criticisms of Mr. Oberteuffer, will carry on for the two remaining weeks. Mrs. William Cold Hibbard III has most kindly consented to pose for the last meetings of the class. Illinois ranks fourth of the states in the production of typewriters and tvpewriter supplies.
