The total killed was an increase of 1,316 over 1926, and the injuries and attendant losses bring forcibly to mind the need for "immediate adoption of uniform traffic codes and expansion of the na- tion's road building programs," the bul- letin points out. "The human factor is the main ele- ment contributing to these accidents," it added, "but that human factor could be offset to a large extent by adequate motoring facilities and regulation, coupled with the individual practice of courtesy and caution." Grade crossing fatalities were said to have decreased for the first eleven months of 1927, the number of per- sons killed totaling 2,210 as compared with 2,244 for the same period the year before. | LL I | 3% Tm AN 0 AO SRN EY a te 042 Uy Pe LAST TWO WEEKS Removal Sale at Barry's After May 1st, we will occupy our new store, 806-810 Grove Street. These towns include Evanston, Wil- mette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glen- coe, Highland Park, Lake Forest, and Waukegan. Kenilworth Pacemaker Kenilworth, which, oddly enough, was one of the few north shore vil- lages to register a loss last year, struck out in the first three months of the year and established that village as the pacemaker, by making a gain of 131 per cent over last year. This gain totaled $221,133. The figures which were compiled by the S. W. Straus company, show Wil- mette, Glencoe and Winnetka {far ahead of last year, but Evanston, which set a record feat last year, has fallen behind considerably in the quarter recently ended. Highland Park practically held even with last year. The golden text was from I John 2:24, "If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father." Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon was the following from the Bible: "And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ve are the temple of the living God : as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them ; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you" (II Cor. 6:16, 17), Ye lesson-sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "If the disciple is advanc- ing spiritually, he is striving to enter in. He constantly turns away from material sense, and looks towards the imperishable things of Spirit" (p. 21). TO LEAD FRESHMAN DANCE Barbara Laing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R.
