April 21, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 51 Women Voters The 8th Annual Convention (the first biennial) of the National League of Women Voters to be held in Chi- cago next week at the Palmer House will be a wonderful opportunity for the members of the Winnetka league to get a picture of the work of the league, which can be realized only through the medium of the National Convention. The delegation to the convention is limited, there being the same num- ber of delegates as there are members of the Congress, but the ball-room of the Palmer House is large enough to accommodate several hundred vis- itors, and many Winnetka women are planning to attend single sessions. Winnetka Guest Room Mrs. A. Montague Ferry, president of the Winnetka league, announces that the Winnetka league has engaged a room at the Palmer House for the convenience of the Winnetka dele- gates and visitors attending the con- vention. Monday and Tuesday will be devoted to open conferences of the standing committees. The chairman of one of these, Mrs. Avis Ring Ninabuck of Winnetka, who is National Chairman of Women in Industry, will preside at the meetings of the committee. Tuesday evening there will be the annual President's address by Miss Up to the standards of college people ... down to the purse of anybody! That's Canadian Pacific's famous new mid-class service. Wednesday evening a mass meeting will be held in the ball-room. The main speaker will be Count Carlo Sforza, former Italian minister of foreign affairs. Thursday, during the day, will again be given to business sessions, and in the evening there will be a general session with Mrs. Hibbard presiding. At this meeting Judge Jarecki and his election commissioners will present a "School of Instruction for Election Officials." Round Table Discussion Friday afternoon there will be the Round Tables on Organization, one of the most interesting features of the convention and of great value to the representatives of local leagues. Mrs. John N. Vander Vries will speak at the Round Table for leagues in com- munities of 3,000 to 2,500 population on the subject of business methods which serve and hold membership. Friday evening the gala event of the convention takes place in the Finance Banquet. Mrs. Frank Hixon of Lake Forest,.who is the national treasurer, will preside. Mrs. William G. Hibbard has arranged a very clever entertainment in order to make the league's money raising event a tradi- tionally happy affair. Winnetka league members may com- municate with Mrs. A. M. Ferry, Win- netka 716, if they are interested in attending the convention, and learn the definite program schedule.
