April 21, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 53 Northfield Gun Club Holds Weekly Shoots Beginning Tomorrow Those whose curiosity has been aroused by the {frequent booming noises which are frequently heard out in the Skokie direction, or in whom fear has been created in the belief that the "pineapple squad" was working north, need not have further concern. The real cause of the noises may be laid to either one of two sources, one being that of the work of the dynamit- ing squad working under Superinten- dent William Edwards, of the North Shore Mosquito Abatement district, in opening up the Skokie ditches, or one of the frequent meets of the Waubun Gun club, more recently re-christened the Northfield Gun club. The club, which is only one year old, now numbers 23 enthusiastic members. The club has two automatic traps for clay bird shooting, and beginning to- morrow will hold the first weekly Sun- day shoots. Plans are underway for club contest shooting with neighboring clubs and, in all probability, cup trophies will be posted. The club has an excellent range and always welcomes those interested in meets of this nature. Further de- tails regarding the club's activities may be obtained by telephoning Al Lever- nier, Wilmette 893-Y4. STUDY TELEPHONE Friday morning New Trier science students attended an assembly in the auditorium given by the Illinois Bell Telephone company showing the oper- ation of the telephone with actual equipment. Moving pictures were also presented showing the principle of the television. The assembly was very instructive and was the third of its type shown to science students, .
