Collegiate! And the College Clown, Al Kvale, with his merry-mad "Kvalians" are going to celebrate a great occasion. Al Kvale, idol of Northwestern university, has been elected Mayor of Jazz Town, and his gang are planning an elaborate ex- travaganza for their next stage show at the Norshore, during the week be- ginning April 22, entitled "Jazz Town." Al will be there--and how !--in all his majestical graciousness--with silk hat, frock coat and all. He and his trick saxophone will be seated chestily on the Musical Throne of Jazz Town, supremely satisfied with his exalted position. With his enchanted baton, he will draw forth soothing and tan- talizing harmony from his bandsmen's instruments. For screen divertissement, Marion Davies, with Marie Dressler, -Jane Winton, and Lawrence Grant, will be seen in her latest comedy-romance, The Patsy." This novel picture, which so rocked loop movie-goers at the Oriental a short time ago, is one dealing with the everyday life of the average American. Its drabness is realistically shown, and its uncon- scious humor is intriguingly por- trayed. Miss Davies has the role of the "kid" of the home, and is accord- ingly snubbed by her elders, and her opinions disregarded. It is an ex- ceedingly amusing film which should add the necessary finishing touches to a delightful entertainment. Illinois is the only state that pro- duces optical fluorspar. TeaTRO DEL IL.aco NO MAN'S LAND il The Utmost in Motion Picture Entertainment If at any time during the next year we should fail in serving you gra- io ciously and intelligently, will you m not call the shortcoming to our at- tention? We value your patronage and we sincerely want to please you with all details of our service. I Cordially yours, TEATRO del LAGO Reviews | Alt the North "Last Command" and "West Point" Teatro Features Films arranged by Teatro del Lago for the coming week include "The Night Flier," "The Immigrant," "On Your Toes," "The Last Command," "The Mad Hour," and "West Point." "The Immigrant" and "The Night Flier" are co-featured on this Satur- day's program. William Boyd is the star in "The Night Flier" and Charlie Chaplin is the humor specialist in "The Immigrant." Both pictures are good and the two should provide a full eve- ning's entertainment. Grandma raises Reggy to be a danc- ing teacher in "On Your Toes," which features--more or less well--Reginald Denny. His father was the undefeated heavyweight champion though Reggy does not know it. Eventually he lands in the ring and of course becomes the champ. The fight is the best part of it. Same High Standard Emil Jannings lives up to his usual high standard in "The Last Com- mand," which is his second American made film. As the favorite cousin of the Czar and Grand Duke of Russsia, the most important man in the Rus- sian army, he portrays one of the most unusual characters of his career. You'll like it as you have liked all of Jan- ning's films. They are unusual, dis- tinctive and invariably well done. "The Mad Hour" is another Elinor Glyn opus. - Sally O'Neil and Lowell Sherman are presented as the daugh- ter of a taxi driver and the son of a multi-millionaire, respectively. The story revolves around the manner in which the taxi driver's daughter cap- tures the son and billions via the gin route and yet is dumb enough to sign him away, lose the custody of her baby and go to jail in his honor. The tale will interest you and Sally will prove a surprise. "West Point" is another of William Haines' smart aleck presentations. Bill gets smarter with every new film and becomes more human with every capitulation that comes as the climax of each of his films. It's a gay and real amusing comedy of the U. S. military academy with real human in- terest. Joan Crawford is the girl "Student Prince" Comes to Varsity Next Monday Lubliner and Trinz' Varsity in Ev- anston is featuring "On Your Toes" this Friday and Saturday and "The Student Prince" next Monday, Tues- day and Wednesday. Reginald Denny is starred more or less well in "On Your Toes." Grand- ma raised Reggy to be a dancing teach- er and its probable that the dancing lessons aided him in following the foot- steps of his father in becoming the heavyweight champion. The fight is 'the best part of the film. "The Student Prince" is one of the most beautiful love stories ever writ- ten. Ramon Navarro is his usual bril- liant self and Norma Shearer, while somewhat mis-cast, is sparkling and beautiful as Kathie. It is a real worth- while film and will be liked. CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY A special program of features and shorts has been arranged by Manager Sam Meyers of Teatro del Lago for the coming week in observation of the first anniversary of the opening oO the theater. Illinois furnishes the greater portion of the nation's supply of hides.
