Bemus of the Winnetka Police de- partment. Thursday was Sparkey's day off. He had been looking forward to its coming ever since the schedule of his favorite ball club was announced, for was he not to have the opportunity that every Cub fan desires--just to see 'em play? Then on started. Sergeant Harry Enault had to go home, ill of the "flu." Officer John H. Luensman was as- signed to the desk the following day, and then he too, "got the grip." On Thursday morning Officer Bemus found himself, not enjoying his "day off" and at the Cubs' ball park as he had planned, but pressed into service doing relief duty on the desk. And thus it was, the third member of the Winnetka Police force was re- ported sick--not serious, just down- right disappointed, that was all.
