Once each year Boy Scouts of the north shore troops, loose their dignity and spend the afternoon purely for fun. May 12 has been set aside as that day at the Cabin-in-the-Woods, west of Glencoe. The program will be in charge of Scoutmasters, assisted by W. Ted Grant, field executive of the North Shore Area council. The pro- gram will consist of a parade by troops, headed by a drum and bugle corps-- each troop dresses as clowns, Indians, in pajamas, etc. Shoe Scram. ble, wool hunt, undressing race, troop water boiling contest, Inspection, Court of Award for Star Life, Eagle and Palms, Troop Family Picnics complete the event. A large number of Scouts from Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Highwood, Lake Forest, Glenview, Northbrook, Deerfield, Libertyville and Mundelein will attend. Glencoe Court of Award, May 15 The Glencoe Court of Honor com- mittee, Franklin deBeers, chairman, plans to hold its final spring session, Tuesday, May 15. Scouts who are advancing during the summer will receive their awards at Camp North Shore. Progress on Camp Monday, June 11, has been set as the opening day for Camp North Shore in the Forest Preserve, west of Glencoe. W. Ickes Heads Nominees for Legislature The official canvass of the election returns from the Seventh district (in- cluding New Trier) not only dispelled all doubt as to the nomination of Mrs. Anna Wilmarth Ickes for the state legislature on the Republican ticket, but placed her at the top of the list of candidates, it developed this week. As but two Republicans and one Democrat were nominated for the three offices of state representative in the district, it was pointed out, nomi- nation in this case was equivalent to election. The official total of the ballots cast |3 for the Republican legislative candi- dates showed Mrs. Ickes first with 51,985.
