May 19, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Choir of Christ Church to Hold Concert and Dance The choir of Christ church will give its annual concert at the Winnetka Woman's club on Friday evening, May 25, at 8 o'clock. The concert is to be followed by an informal dance from 9 until 12 o'clock during which time re- freshments will be served. Graf's cele- brated Chicago orchestra with Mr. Graf conducting has been engaged. This in itself assures three hours of fun and entertainment. It is suggested that dinner parties be given and ad- vantage taken of this very delightful way of entertaining the guests later. These rates were published in WINNETKA TALK, issue of May 5. LEAVING FOR WEST Mrs. H. Edmund Scheerer, 250 Pop- lar road, is leaving tomorrow night on what promises to be a most delightful western trip of about a month's dura- tion. She will go first to Los Angeles to visit friends there and then make various stops as she returns home via the northern route, touching San Francisco, Vancouver, Lake Louise, and other interesting places. Rollin Simmons Wins First Place in Beloit Contests Rollin Simmons of New Trier High school woh first place in extemporan- eous speaking at the High school In- terscholastic contests held under the auspices of Beloit college on Satur- day, May 12, winning the banner for first place over entries from High schools of Wisconsin and Illinois. Jack Brown of Morton High school took second prize. Three students of New Trier entered the contests, Steve Harwood compet- ing in the oratorical contest and Emma Rumler entering the declama- tion contest.
