The Washington Laundry WILMETTE 145 y Select Attendants for Klapproth-Bird Wedding On June 5, Miss Dale Klapproth, daughter of Frederick Klapproth of Chicago, will be married to Curtis Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Bird, 1010 Chestnut avenue, Wilmette. The wedding will take place at St. Chrysostom's church with a reception at the Blackstone hotel following. Miss Klapproth has chosen Miss Henrietta Bird to be her maid of honor and her bridesmaids include Miss Dorothy Gittere of New York, Miss Miriam Way, River Forest, Miss Dorothy Patten of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Joseph J. Delfosse of Chica- go. John Copeland of Evanston is to be Mr. Bird's best man and Stanley Manson of Rochester, N. Y. Jack Klapproth and Jack Cannon of Chica- go, and George S. Channer, Jr. of Glencoe will usher. There have been and are to be in the coming week an unusual number of delightful parties for Miss Klap- proth and Mr. Bird. On May 25, Miss Henrietta Bird entertained at lunch- eon at the Chicago Athletic club. Two days later Miss Joanna Powell of Chicago is giving a breakfast and on May 29 Mrs. Joseph Delfosse is having a luncheon at the Blackstone. Mrs. Gordon Bird will entertain the bridal party at a dinner dance at the Edge- water Golf club on Decoration day and the next event will be a theater party to be given on June 1, by John Copeland. Saturday evening, June 2, Mr. and Mrs. George Bird will enter- tain at the formal opening of the summer season at Skokie. This is to be a dinner dance. The following day they will hold open house for the young people and many out of town guests who will be here at that time to attend the wedding. Mr. Klapproth will give the bridal dinner the night before the wedding. Dr. Eugene W. Lyman to Be Commencement Orator for Garrett Prof. Eugene William Lyman, D.D., of Union Theological seminary, New York, will give the address at the 71st annual commencement at Garrett Biblical institute, Wednesday, June 6. Graduation exercises will be held in the Charles Macauley Stuart chapel at 2 in the afternoon. That morning there will be the annual Communion services at 8:30, the speakers to be the Rev. J. Hastie Odgers, district super- intendent of the Chicago Northern district of the Methodist church. The commencement program will be launched Sunday, June 3, with the 10:30 o'clock services at the First Methodist Episcopal church. The Rev. Halford Edward Luccock, D.D. con- tributing editor of the Christian Advo- cate and professor-elect of Yale divin- ity school, will preach. Tuesday of that week will be alumni day. At 10:45 the Chicago Methodist Preachers' meeting will be held at Stuart chapel. Dr. Luccock will give an address on "Methodism and the Future." At 12:45 there will be 3 ministers' luncheon at the North Shore hotel, and at 2:15 a business meeting with the presiding officer the Rev. Aubrey S. Moore, president of the general alumni association. Between 4 and 6 Pres. Frederick C. Eiselen and Mrs. Eiselen will rceive alumni and other friends, and at 6:30 the alumni dinner will be served in the library. The speaker will be the Rev. Adelbert L. Semans, his subject, "The Ministry of Art to the Spiritual Life." 3 Visitors are welcome to attend the regular class sessions Monday, Tues- day and Wednesday.
