Mr. Carey plans to go to Seattle, Wash., where he will interne for a year. Shamrocks Wilt Before Winnetka; Sportsmen Sunday By Oliver J. Hance The Barry Shamrocks looked rather green last Sunday and the walloping Winnetka nine bowled over what lit- tle resistance they had to offer by the count of R-0. Panosh, whose tricky twirling has been rather effec- tive in the past, exceeded all pre- vious exhibitions of mound canniness when he whiffed fourteen waving Shamrocks during the nine inning contest. Bill Carey, who does hit the horse- hide once in a while after all, did himself proud, despite the fact that he claims to have nothing against the Irish, and pounded out a triple, a single and a double. The locals batted out a three tally lead in the initial frame, and were never endangered by the efforts of the grass hued outfit from Chicago's north side. The Chicagoans had a reputation when they started for the north shore, but they seemed to have lost it on the way. Panosh's pitching, despite the bitter weather, was a beauty to behold and, being better supported by his team- mates than by the townspeople, who produced but a scanty crowd, gave the loyal supporters who shivered in the stand a real exhibition of the na- tional pastime. This Sunday the South Side Sports- men, from below the belt in the windy city, will journey to the local stamping grounds to joust with the rampant locals. A hard, hard-hitting aggregation of good boys from the stronger sections of the southern suberb is what this invasion of this village consists of, and all the wiles of the canny Panosh will be necessary to keep the Chicago crowd from running rampant over the diamond. The local lads have been rather despondent for the past few days, however, despite their impressive vic- tory over the Shamrocks. Nobody can put on a show without an audience and the Winnetka nine is no ex- ception. Give the local boys a hand, gang! The South Side Sportsmen, Winnet- ka game will be played tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon, at 3 o'clock. Mrs. W. H.
