Graduates Aims of Education The game of education, according to Dr. Edwin Starbuck of the Institute of Character Research of the University of Iowa, is to develop a more refined personality, to bring about social re- construction of attitudes and pro- gressively to center the life in ideal values. This he stated in course of the com- mencement address he delivered Wed- nesday afternoon to the class of 230 girls graduated from the National Kindergarten and Elementary college, and the twelve girls given degrees in education there. Exercises were held at Harrison hall. Fourteen scholarships were awarded to students of outstanding scholastic ability and to those who have done exceptional work in their student teaching. Diplomas were pre- sented by President Edna Dean Baker and greetings extended by the presi- dent of the board of trustees, Merritt Starr. Mrs. Harry G. Phillips of Evanston was re-elected president of the national alumnae group of the National Kinder- garten and Elementary college when its alumnae day was held Saturday. Some 250 alumnae attended. They were addressed by President Edna Dean Baker. Members of the classes of 1898, 1908 and 1918 appeared in costumes of these periods. Members of the graduat- ing class were guests at the luncheon which was followed by a tour of the building. A motion picture of the Mary Crane nursery 'school was shown.
