June 9, 1928 WINNETK A TALK wr N=] C. WW. Wrigleys Build in Canterbury Court There is being erected on one of the lake front estates comprising Canter- bury court, in Evanston and Wilmette, a residence for Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Wrigley, from drawings prepared by the office of Richard Powers, archi- fect. The house is French in character and has been designed to suggest the rich diversity of architectural form and building material, which is so evident in the smaller manors and farm dwell- BOOM FOR REAL ESTATE SEEN DURING BIG FAIR (Continued from Page 51) which more than materials things, bring comfort and joy to the soul" In 1890-1893 Chicago had a popula- tion of a little over 1,000,000. In 1887 it had an area of 36 square miles. In 1889, four years before the Columbian Exposition, another 131 square miles was annexed. It now has a population of 3,000,000 and 208 square miles with- in its corporate limits. By 1933 the population of Chicago, together with its suburbs comprising the Chicago area, will be 5,000,000 or more. Visitors to Invest What's this going to mean to Chi- cago and suburban real estate? Two and a half billion dollars has been set as a conservative estimate of the amount of money that will be spent by visitors in Chicago in 1933. Certainly a fair proportion of this is going to be invested in real estate in this vicinity. Don't let the pessimist tell you that the depression of 1893 and subsequent years was caused by the World's Columbian Exposition. That financial trouble began in 1890 and was in full swing everywhere but in Chicago where the effect of it was felt the least of any large city because of the Fair, and Chicago even after the fair was over was never in as straightened circumstances as it would have been but for the money spent here during the Exposition. Let's all get behind and help put over the Centennial Celebration in a manner befitting Chicago, which is destined to be the most attractive and largest city in the world.
