A seven weeks' term ending in an exhibition Aug. 11, will be held. As he has done for many years Coach Tom is conducting classes for beginners of all ages and advanced classes for those who want tank swimming during the summer. Life saving instruction is given in certain of the classes, which are a special concern of Tom's. He has taught many hundreds of people life saving and the records he has kept of the rescues these pupils have made testify to the thoroughness of his job. Classes are held daily from 9 a. m. to late afternoon. Besides the ad- vanced and beginning classes for boys and girls, some of the feature instruc- tion periods are: men beginners, which are held 5 p. m. Tuesdays and Fridays; a mothers' and children's class Wed- nesdays and Saturdays at 11:15 a. m. and Tuesdays and Fridays at 2 p. m.; and the life saving. Membership in the classes calls for a nominal charge made at the time of registration. Geology Classes Will Spend Month in Canoes Prof, 1.-S. Grant and Prof. J. T. Stark of the geology department at Northwestern will conduct classes this summer on a six weeks' geological field trip by canoes in the Lake Su- perior region. Setting out from Ely, Minn. the canoeing geologists will travel east- ward through several lakes along the international boundary between Min- nesota and Ontario and circle back to Ely. The students will be trained in methods of field work and in detailed mapping of selected areas. The party will leave Evanston August 9 and re- turn about a month later. Bring Sousa Photo by Ray Mrs. Martin Kent Northam, presi- dent of the Evanston branch of the League of Women Voters, with Mrs. W. T. Hall of the Associate Alumnae, is co-chairman of the project which will bring Sousa and his band to the north shore in concert at the North- western university gymnasium, Sept. 22. Proceeds will in part benefit the proposed woman's building of Northwestern university. Various other north shore organizations are co-operating in the project.
