Norshore WHITEMAN HERE SOON Paul Whiteman will be in Chicago's loop next week with his syncopators. Jack Holt to Appear on Varsity Screen in New Western Picture Jack Holt is back on the screen and will be seen at the Varsity theater in Evanston this Saturday, June 30, in Paramount's "The Vanishing Pioneer." As if to celebrate his return under the Paramount banner, the producers have surrounded the star with an excellent supporting cast. There is Sally Blane, a very pretty and a coming youngster; William Powell, the very popular suave villain; Fred Kohler, he of the sneer- ing face, with remarkable acting abili- ty; and Marcia Mannon as the "apron woman." The picture is from the Zane Grey western story. The Varsity showing for next Mon- day and Tuesday is "The Enemy," taken from the play by Channing Pollock. Lillian Gish, who plays the leading role, gives her most human and most appealing performance in this picture which was chosen as one of the six best during the month of February. It is anti-war propaganda told in the terms of a tragedy that befell a Viennese household. "Good Morning, Judge," with Regi- nald Denny, is the Varsity offering for the Fourth of July. Mary Astor and Lloyd Hughes are paired for the leading roles in "Three Ring Marriage," which comes to the Varsity next Thursday and Friday, July 5 and 6. The movie is taken from a story by Dixie Willson. Thurs. June 28-29 ZAR ARN RR ra \ VARSITY KARL DANE -- GEO. K.
