July 14, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 23 PLAN OFFICIAL COURSE North Shore Outboard Motor Asso- ciation to Lay Out Two-Mile Route Outboard motor enthusiasts, who organized the North Shore Outboard Motor association a month ago, are taking their boats more and more seriously and are now planning to lay out an official course so that they may have official races under the rules of the American Outboard Motor asso- ciation, of which they are a chapter. With that accomplished their am- bition is to break the world's record for outboard racing. Several of the members have powerful enough boats for the test and will aim for the record of 384 m. p. h. Details for the official course and future races were to be decided this week at a meeting called by Frank lin Cook, secretary. Their official course, he explains, will be two miles long and will be laid down off the coast guard station. The club plans to schedule a ten-mile race to be run under the official rules for sometime within the next two weeks, it is expected, and this will draw contestants from the entire north shore as well as the club members. For the time trials in which the members will try to better the record a one-mile course will be marked out. Boats will travel this six times and they will be clocked for the average time on a lap. Those who expect to enter the trials are Robert Ricksen, Horace Carver and Jim Roloson, who all have Elto-Quad motors. Results of the July Fourth races among the club members were: Class B--Jo Brubaker in Bull Frog, first; Randell Cook, second; Clarence Zill- mer, third. Class C--E. J.
