July 21, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 11 Two Women Honored by N. U. in Names of 2 New Dormitories Northwestern university's two new open dormitories on the women's cam- pus, now nearing completion, have been named in memory of Mrs. Emily Hatfield Hobart, who was shot and killed by Chinese, April 29, and Mrs Emma Winner Rogers, wife of Dr Henry, Wade Rogers, who was presi- dent of the university from 1891 to 1902. Hobart house is the dormitory on Emerson street between two of the sorority houses completed last fall and Rogers house is at the Orrington and University corner of the east quad- rangle. The two houses will cost ap- proximately $300,000, including the furnishings, and will be ready for occupancy when the fall term opens. Fach will accommodate 37 women who are not sorority members. Mrs. Hobart, sister of James Taft Hatfield, was a graduate of North- western in the class of 1882. She was a missionary in China with her hus- band, William T. Hobart, for 46 years and was in the war zone when killed. The other woman whose name is honored was one of the founders of the Northwestern university settle- ment and of the University guild. Miss Bernice Cole of Kenilworth has had as her house guest for a few days, Miss Sarah Beck of Ottawa, Ill, who returned from camp with her. Miss Beck was also the guest of Miss Dorothy Klunder of 909 Chestnut avenue, who was in camp at Sawyer, Mich., with the girls. me Yr Mrs. S. S. Holden of Kenilworth entertained a few guests for luncheon on Wednesday, July 18, at the Indian Hill club in honor of Mrs. Carol Ridgway who is here visiting from California.
