2 WINNETKA TALK September 29, 1928 Sheridan Shore to Send Star Fleet to Regatta Sheridan Shore's star class fleet will travel to the Navy pier, Chicago, Sat- urday afternoon to take part in the Chicago Yacht club's autumn regatta. Boats from Sheridan Shore have fared well in all inter-club competitions this summer and are expecting to win hon- ors in Saturday's races. Uncertainty of the weather has kept some of the club members from decigl- ing whether to compete Saturday, but among those planning to enter are Max Hayford, who will sail Dr. Dan- forth's Katydid; John Dennison in his Hummer II, Hal Smith in Andelah, Earl T. "For The Best There Is In Food" Temporary "L" Trestle Will Be in Use Oct. 1 Operation of Rapid Transit line trains over the temporary northbound trestle between Church and Isabella streets, Evanston, will begin October 1, it is announced by D. H. Howard, en- gineer in charge of the "L" track elevation project. Work on the erec- tion of the temporary south bound trestle is now in progress, and it is expected to have trains operating over this section of the temporary "high line" by November 1, Mr. Howard stated. Construction of the permanent em- bankment will proceed after the com- pletion of the temporary trestle work. his includes placing concrete retain- ing walls, building viaducts over street crossings, filling in the permanent right-of-way, erecting stations and laying permanent tracks. Kenilworth Police Arrest Two Deserters From Navy Two men who gave their names as Robert Davis and Henry Ralph Hol- ley were arrested Saturday night shortly after 10 o'clock by Officers Soderman and Griffith, of the Kenil- worth police force. The men were seen loitering about the Ivy court sta- tion of the North Shore railroad in Kenilworth about 10 p. m. and were reported by Village Manager Streed. After questioning the two men the of- ficers took them into custody as de- serters from the U. S. S. Wyoming. They were taken to the Great Lakes Naval Training station. Staff Is Chosen for New Trier Student Newspaper Selection of a staff for the New Trier News, student publication of New Trier High school, has been com- pleted, and several issues of the paper have been printed. Dorland J. Davis and Robert Marcus are the editors-in- chief. Homer Hilton is business man- ager, Bob Simmons advertising man- ager, and Frank Roth circulation man- ager. The following departmental editors have been announced: boys' athletics, Duncan Jennings; girls athletics, Martha Tencher; dramatics, Janet Marshall; literary, Morton Mer- gentheim; editorials, Ruth Drayer; music, Bob Brown; socal, Ruth Drayer; and humor, Bud Magill. The New Trier News is published twice each week this year, on Tues- day and Friday. Robert H. Carpenter is the faculty advisor. LEAVES FOR EAST Miss Bethany Crowe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burt A.
