Hibbard as chair- man of the program committee for the state convention of the Illinois League of Women Voters is busy completing the program details. The convention will ba held in Moline November 12 to 15. Delegates from Winnetka will be elected at the meeting of the Winnetka board of directors on Monday. The board of directors of the Win- netka League of Women Voters will meet at 11 a. m. on Monday in Com- munity House. The plans for getting out the vote will be the main busi- ness of the meeting. Mrs. Ernest P. Bartlett, chairman of the Efficiency in Government com- mittee of the Winnetka league, repre- sented the Winnetka league at the state meeting of her committee on Friday at state league headquarters. This committee is planning to hold ballot-marking demonstrations in the Loop prior to the election. The Winnetka league election headquarters will be under the direction of Mrs. Charles Keller and will also conduct ballot-marking demonstrations. Mission Leader to Speak at St. John's Sept. 30 Rev. E. F. Schueler, secretary of the Board of Home Missions ot the Luth- eran denomination in North America, will preach at St. John's Lutheran church in Wilmette Sunday morning, Septem- ber 30, at the 11 o'clock services. The occasion is the annual Mission Sunday in the parish. The Rev. Arthur Wer- felmann of Glenview will preach at an evening mission service in the church. FIRE WAS IN FURNACE The Winnetka fire department was called to. the residence of Police Ser- geant Ed Cummings, 1125 Tower road, Wednesday afternoon, where an over- heated furnace caused alarm. No damage resulted, however. Mrs. F. M. Cherry, Mrs. A. B. Adair, and Mrs. J. M. Roberts of Kenilworth are home from a month's motor trip east. Mrs. Cherry visited in Ithaca, N.
