October 6, 1928 WINNETKA TALK Union Is Unanimous in Endorsement of World's Fair Every state in the Union; more than half of Europe, and virtually all of South America have received the mes- sage of Chicago's Centennial Cele- bration and have reacted favorably. Japan has. already appropriated an in- itial fund of * $3,000,000. Canada through her newspapers has de- clared herself ready to go, and the Philippines are preparfng for their exhibit. More than 1,000 posters have been received in the contest to design the official poster for the coming World's Fair. Artists from all over the world have entered the competition, and this has been the particular means where- by the big news has been conveyed through Europe. Newspapers and art magazines set forth the project to such good effect that nearly every nation in Europe is on the qui vive. Returning trav- elers report that they are queried everywhere regarding the Centennial. South America sees in the coming World's Fair the great opportunity for establishing new industrial and trade relations with the world in gen- eral and the United States in partic- ular. And William A. Reid, foreign trade advisor of the Pan American Union, writes: "If the Pan American Union can be of service to you at any time, please do not hestitate to let it be known." With the Enrollment campaign rap- idly drawing to its close, more than 1,300 employes of the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee railroad have contributed $5 each to the fund and become members of the World's Fair Legion. Unqualified support for the Cen- tennial has been pledged by the asso- ciated laundrymen and their 25,000 employes are being enrolled as rapidly as the various plants can be visited. Many thousands more in the auto- mobile and subsidiary industries are voting "yes" with five dollar bills, and Stuyvesant Peabody, chairman of the Enrollment campaign, wears the smile that won't come off. Christian Science "Christian Science" was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, Sunday, Septem- ber 30. The golden Text was from Isaiah 52:7, "How beautiful upon the moun- tains are the feet of him that bring- eth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!" Among the citations which com- prised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts. . :tv.:f And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest" (Hebrews 8:10, 11). The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passages from the Chris- tian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "Science will declare God aright, and Christianity will demonstrate this declaration and its divine Principle, making mankind better physically, morally, and spirit- ually" (p. 466).
