Winnetka to Have First Torchlight Parades Echoes of an earlier day when torch- light processions and blaring brass bands heading long lines of enthusias- tic partisan marching clubs featured national political campaigns are again to be heard in Winnetka. It is said to be quite possible that the Floyd E. Thompson parade this evening and the Hoover rally and par- ade being planned for Friday evening, November 2, may, in reality, be the first big political demonstration of their kind the village has ever seen. In days of old political rallies were not complete without their marching flambeau clubs, but when some of the older residents of Winnetka were con- sulted for information as to the last big rally in the village, they scratched their heads and thought--then de- clared, "there were no such things here." But they are coming. And tonight and again on November 2, enthusias- tic partisans will, for the first time in history, march through Winnetka streets, shouting lustily for their favor- ite candidates, to the accompaniment of the band and amidst the blazing glory of smoking campaign torches.
