THE NORTH SHORE REAL ESTATE BOARD Recent Realty Deals One of the last large pieces of un- subdivided property around the Demp- ster street terminal in Niles Center has just been put on the market by the Paramount Realty corporation. This property, consisting of forty-five acres, was purchased from Mayor John E Brown of Niles Center. It runs from Simpson and the Harmswood station to Church street along the right of way of the Skokie valley branch of the North Shore electric. It also is lo- cated on the Elgin highway known as State route No. 58. Martin L. Clarke, bond broker and apartment building owner of New York, bought the triangular piece of business property at the southeast cor- ner of Lincoln and Crawford ave- nues, 180x170, in Tessville, just beyond the city limits from Goodson & Wilson, for a reported $150,000. The new owner intends eventually to improve with a three story business building. A replica of the tavern room of the old Buckeye inn, Evanston's first hotel, is to be installed in the form of a grill in the Oak Crest apartment hotel--now under construction at 1570 Oak ave- nue. The location is just south of Davis street and a block east of Ridge avenue. The Oak Crest will be eight stories high and will contain ninety-one apartments ranging in size from one to six rooms. Some of the flats will be furnished. Raymond Gregori de- signed the structure which will be of old English Tudor architecture. Both are be- ing built by William Salmen, one at No. 708 and the other at No. 740. According to the building permits '| the former is to cost $14,000 and the latter $13,000. Both are to be two stories and brick veneer. Two other permits for new resi- dences were issued, one to Murray & Sinclair for W. D. Glennon who is building a two story brick veneer and attached two car garage at 103 Rob- sart road, costing $26,500 and one 'o the same firm for Fred J. Stebbins, who is erecting" a two story, solid brick residence and attached two car garage at 329 Rahleigh road, costing $33,000. There was also a permit issued dur- ing October for a remodeling job cost- ing $2,000. Total improvements for the month amounted to $88,500.
