Information for Motor Tourists Road conditions for Illinois and | nearby states are reported by the Chi- cago Motor club as follows: ILLINOIS Warren avenue which is now War- ren boulevard is located one block south of Washington boulevard and 1s the first actual one-way arterial high- way in Chicago. It was opened Tues- day, October 23, with ceremonies in Union Park, at Warren boulevard and Ogden avenue. The new drive, an eastbound thoroughfare, runs from Union Park to Homan avenue, or the | east end of Garfield Park. Dempster street between Harms road and McCormick boulevard was opened to traffic on October 31. Northwest Highway at Foundry road is now open. Gross Point road from Lincoln ave- | nue to Church street is now open. Lawndale avenue between Joliet road and Archer avenue is now open. 96th avenue, which is designated but not marked as Illinois-51, is paved and open from 111th street to 14 miles | north of the Lincoln Highway. The re- mainder to the Lincoln Highay is now paved but not open because of bridge construction. Illinois-4A--Detour at Summit bridge of Sanitary Canal; follow Illinois-4 west to Willow Springs road and south Illinois-6--Detour at Westchester; follow Pusheck road south to 22nd street; thence west to Illinois-46 (Mannheim); thence north to Illi- nois-6. Illinois-7--There is a 12 mile gravel detour between Princeton and Spring Valley. This detour is in good condi- tion. Illinois-10--The detour just east of Jacksonville is in good condition. This detour has been oiled and dragged in the past week. Illinois-18--Detour in Naperville; follow marked detour route over city streets. [llinois-42--Detour in I.ake Forest; follow marked detour route over city streets. [llinois-51--Is now paved and open from Illinois-44 south of Andres to about 2 miles south of Frankfort, Illi- nois. From this point to the intersec- tion of the Lincoln Highway in Frank- fort the road, in all probability, will not be open until next summer. Illinois-74--New pavement, is open from Freeport to Orangeville. From Orangeville to Oneco is 1% mile of earth and from there to the state linc is pavement. INDIANA US-24--Three more miles of pave- ment have been opened east of Mon- ticello and traffic is now using 12 miles of new pavement at this point. US-27--Detour at 2 miles south of Richmond because of construction for 5% miles. Slow down between Rich- mond and Chester; workmen repairing shoulders. Detour from 1% miles south of Bryant to 4 mile north of Bryant because of construction for 5 miles . Detour ¥ mile west of Berne to 1 mile south of Monroe because of construction for 5 miles. De- tour from 1 mile south of Decatur to Decatur because of construction for 1% miles. Detour from 7 miles north of Decatur to Fort Wayne because of construction for 17 miles. Detour fron south city limits of Waterloo to Pleas- ant Lake because of construction for 15 miles. The 6-mile detour between Winchester and Lynn has been re- moved and new pavement is now in use.
