New Trier scored its fifth victory and kept up its defeatless record in football this season by trouncing Deer- field, 26 to 6, in the Homecoming game at Highland Park, last Saturday. Wessling, who started for Deerfield at right end and was changed to the backfield in the second quarter, had the unusual experience of making points for both teams. He received a pass to score Deerfield's lone touch- down and then in the last quarter was forced to down the ball behind his own goal line, which gave New Trier two points, New Trier's first touchdown was scored a few minutes after the game started. On the first play after the kick-off, Bennie Richards received a pass from Nelson and ran to Deer- field's 2-yard line. Morris Nelson put the ball across the line on the third play of the game. The try for point- after - touchdown was unsuccessful. Neither team was able to make a single extra point during the game. After an exchange of punts, Deer- field intercepted a pass and then, chiefly through Wessling's efforts, the Blue and White advanced to the visi- tor's 4 yard mark. New Trier's line held till fourth down and Morrie punt- ed the pigskin 40 yards away from his goal. Morrie took the ball the remain- ing 60 yards when he intercepted an enemy pass and sprinted over for his second touchdown, which boosted New Trier's score to 12 points . After blocking one of Nelson's kicks Deerfield advanced to the Gray-Green 1 yard line. The line held till fourth down; but the kick was a poor one and Deerfield renewed their march to- ward a touchdown. They scored on a pass to Wessling. In the second half New Trier start- ed a drive which ended when George Dewar plunged 2 yards through cented for his team's third score. New Trier won in an exchange of punts. A Gray-Green kick went be- hind Deerfields goal line and Wessling, who got the ball, was thrown for a safety. Al Richards scored the final touch- down after New Trier had made an- other drive down the field. N. S.
