CLUB World Famous Author-Explorer to Recount Experiences "With Lawrence in Arabia" Lowell Tories, "well known ex- plorer, author and lecturer, will speak on "With Lawrence in Arabia" at the Wilmette Sunday Evening club, No vember 25. His lecture will be illus- trated by stereopticon and moving pictures. The soloist for this Sunday will be Madam Edith Bideau Normelli Mr. Thomas' lecture, given last year, at the Union League club of Chicago, drew one of the largest crowds of the season. Colorful Career The lecturer has had an interesting and colorful career. At nineteen he was a Bachelor of Arts, at twenty a Master of Arts. Explorer in Alaska and the Arctic, gold miner, star repor- ter on metropolitan dailies, literary free lance, magazine writer, both pro- fessor and student at a great college of law, and at Princeton university in quest of a degree of Doctor of Philo- sophy and a member of the faculty-- he had been all these when he was twenty-five. In Midst of War Then the war came. It took him to Europe on a special mission with cre- dentials from the President's cabinet and a colonel in the army as his aid. In the words of Lord Northcliffe "he saw more of the world war than any other man." He traveled from Flan- ders to the Argonne and the Alps, from the Piave to Egypt, and then to Arabia and Palestine. In Paris on Armistice day, he hastened to the frontier and crawled through the Allied lines by night to see Central Egypt amid the convulsions of revolution. Lowell Thomas' lectures have been acclaimed in all parts of the world. At the end of his London run be re- ceived an invitation from the Prime Minister of Australia to present his epic story and films in the Antipodes as the guest of the commonwealth government. This led to invitations from other countries. Mr. Thomas has returned to the United States to continue his long postponed tour of this country. Enthralls Audiences The lecturer was invited to appear at the White House before the Presi- dent, and on that occasion Dr. Paul F Reinsch. American financial advisor to the government of China, stated that it was the most impressive and enthralling entertainment he had ever seen. On behalf of China he urged Lowell Thomas to make that country the subject of his next production. Many reviewers have proclaimed Thomas' book, "With Lawrence in Arabia," the greatest book to come out of the World War, Albert Vail Gives Third Lecture in Village Monday Albert Vail will give the third of his series of four lectures at the home of Mrs. Enos M. Barton, 978 Euclid ave- nue, Monday morning, November 26. His subject will be "What Is the Truth that Sets Us Free?" The hour will be 10:30 o'clock instead of 10 o'clock, as was first announced. The fourth and last lecture of this series will be given by Mr. Vail Dec- ember 3 at the same hour.
