Larson Hurt in Automobile Crash As the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Linden ave- nue, Hubbard Woods, Saturday eve- ning shortly after 5 o'clock, Carl J. Larson, age 58, of Glencoe was removed to the Swedish Convenant hospital, 2749 Foster avenue, Chicago. Mr. Larson, in stepping out between two cars parked on the street at 899 Linden avenue, was struck by a car driven by O. W. Middleton, of 278 Ridge avenue, Winnetka. His injuries were dressed by Dr. B. E. Fillis, of 1056 Gage street, after which he was taken to the hospital by Mr. Middleton. BENEFIT DANCE TONIGHT The vaudeville and dance for the benefit of the North Shore Country Day school Christmas toy shop, is an- nounced for this evening, at 8 o'clock, at the school auditorium. Tower Road Phones: Winn. 908-09 Entertain Mothers at Hubbard Woods School This Week Pupils of the Hubbard Woods school have heen busy this week entertaining their mothers in the school rooms. Fol- lowing is a brief account of programs in the various rooms: Miss Danburg, third grade-- A round table discussion was held, and the room chairman, Mrs. Howard Gray, presented a list of books suit- able for reading to children. Miss Winifred Weedon and Miss Esther Bosworth, kindergartens, joint meeting--Tea, followed by a talk by Miss Helen Totten, of the department of educational counsel, and a round ta- ble discussion. Miss Luella Schwartz, second and third combined--Miss Schwartz talked of the year for this year. The meeting closed with a tea. Miss Ruth Barnes and Miss Ruth Danburg, fourth grades, joint meeting --Pupils in Miss Barnes' room pre- sented a "cave man" play. At the joint meeting which followed Miss Frances Pressler, social science super- social Rose visor, talked on fourth grade science work. . Miss Bernice Helf, sixth grade-- Mrs. Arthur Mayer, room chairman, led a discussion on discipline. Miss Helf spoke, and the following pupils talked on their hobbies: Jerry Dan- ley, Ned Rosenheim, Alma Katz, and Harry Gottlieb. Miss Olga Leap, sixth grade--Miss Leap's pupils repeated a play given re- cently in which they dramatized char- acters from fourteen books. Miss Nell Olson, librarian, spoke on sixth grade reading, paying special attention to books suitable for Christmas reading. Are Six Ducks Worth a Ducking? Hunter Asks Mathew Conrad, sales manager for the Wersted Motor company, is won- dering if six ducks are worth a gun, a pair of rubber boots, and a soaking in cold water. Mr. Conrad and his father were duck hunting on the Illi- nois river Wednesday. Their boat cap- sized, spilling its occupants into water chilled by November winds.
