Decorate Louis Eckstein Legion of Honor Chevalier Upon ouis Eckstein, president of the Ravinia Opera company, has been bestowed the decoration of chevalier of the Legion of Honor, according to a recent announcement. The honor has been conferred, an official letter of notification from Count de Ferry de Fontnouvelle, consul of France, states, in consideration of Mr. FEckstein's services to music, especially to French music. For years Mr. Eckstein has been identified with Ravinia Park and similar artistic projects, Louis Kenilworth Scout Is Youngest Eagle of New Trier Area Roger Barrett, son of Mr, and Mrs. Oliver R. Barrett of 623 Abbottsford road, Kenilworth, was made the young est Fagle Scout of the North Shore November Kenilworth of Area Boy Scout council on 23. He is a member of Troop 13, under the leadership Robert Townley, Scoutmaster. Roger passed his tenderfoot exam- ination in September of 1927, took the second class scout examination in Oc- tober and was made a first class Scout in November of that year. He was made a Star Scout in May of this year and a Life Scout in June. Then he had to wait until November 23 to be made an Eagle scout, one year after he had been made a first class scout. He now has twenty-six merit badges, twenty-one being the number required to make him an Eagle Scout. This will make him eligible to an Eagle Palm when six months have passed, as he has the additional five merits required for the honor. Roger passed his thirteenth birthday last June and nearly gained his honors in the mini- mum of time. Thirteen months after his twelfth birthday, the age at which boys are taken into the Scout troop, the shortest time in which a boy can gain the honor of Eagle Scout. 1S Rabbi Abba H. Silver to Address the Uptown Forum Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of Cleve- land, widely known as one of the most able Jewish leaders in the United States, will speak at the Uptown Forum, Sunday evening, December 2, on the question "Is Progress a Myth?" Dr. Silver, although a young man, has won international fame as a great orator and brilliant scholar. His lec- ture at the forum will deal with some of the most important problems facing the American people. He will also make the meeting doubly interesting and worth while in the usual forum question period following the lecture.
