Simply plug this marvelous clock into a light socket, set it at the right time, then forget clock worries -- no winding -- no regulating -- no oiling -- no cleaning. And the operating cost is less than two dollars per year! HERE'S HOW! Time service by electricity in your home or office is possible because of the special instruments which we have installed in our generating station to keep our great turbines running at 1009, accurate speed. These instruments are checked daily with radio time signals. The Telechron is an extremely accurate electric clock operated by a tiny motor that keeps "in step" with the speed of our big turbines. By keeping our turbines running at the correct speed, we cause your Telechron and every other Telechron on our lines to keep correct time -- whether five or fifty thousand of them! ASSESSORS START WORK ON REVALUATIONS SOON Actual Field Labor Will Begin Monday it is Announced--Aid From Public Sought The actual field work of revaluing 1,200,000 pieces of real estate and buildings in the County of Cook, which has been arranged for by action of the Joard of Assessors and the Cook County Board of Commissioners, will be launched on Monday by Director Hary Cutmore. A simplified plan of operation which can be fully understood by anyone has been arranged for by Mr. Cutmore, and it is expected that complaints of inequity in real estate valuations will cease as soon as this gigantic task is completed. Men in the field are being carefully schooled in the plan of taking meas- urements, describing, building, con- struction and equipment, so that ex- pert valuators can readily arrive at a value of the property of every home owner, flat building, apartment build- ing apartment hotel, hotel, store office or bank building, warehouse, theatre, factory, garage or service station own- er in the county. Work Due to Complaints This work has been ordered done, be- cause of complaints which have been made that certain pieces of property are under-taxed, while a great number of homes and smaller places are being over-taxed. It is pointed out by Mr. Cutmore and his experts levied to support the government. The amount of taxes levied is called an assessment. The Board of Assessors is a body created by law to levy taxes on land and property. : ; When every citizen in Chicago and Cook County knows that the revalua- | ( | assistant tio of his property and that of his neighbor will make the same equiva- lent tax basis as everyone else, then this new plan will receive the aid of every one in the county. Chicago will be divided into forty- four sections, with two reputable real estate men giving fair land values for streets with which they are familiar, and a number of crews in the field de- termining the building values, the next assessment for taxation should furnish the most equitable tax situation that was ever presented to the taxpayers of Cook County, Ask Aid From Public "We have about completed our pre- liminary work, which is one of the most important links in the chain of operation," declared Mr. Cutmore. "We have schooled many of our men, and are ready to go. It is a tremend- ous task but with the aid of the citi- zens we shall complete it in plenty of time for the levying of next assess- ments. "It is our plan to work courteously with the public and hope the public will aid us as much as possible, be- cause it is to their advantage to have an equitable value on all property, so that 'everyone shares the burden rather than permitting some to pass their share on to many less able to pay."
