Preparations for our grand Easter Ball are now under way and the Committee, --which is composed of the Club Executi-- ve, are working to make 'this year's affair the best ever sta-- ged. Details are now being attended to. Tickets are being printed and an outstanding or-- chestra will be in attendance. Numerous favours and novel-- ties will be in store for you in the regular, inimitable Circolo mode. Get ready now, send in your name for our special ma-- iling list, together with that of your friends. Further details and special arrangements will appear in this page from time to time. Remember the Circolo Ball, right after the Lenten se-- ason. Bob Polito, who was a prize winner in the Bridge and Scopa party, was quoted as able to play the game of Scopa--and he won a prize! What would be the result if he could play? Gid De Spirt finally rolled his annual feature game with the fine score of 311. Gid was a lit-- tle doubtful about performing his annual classic but on the in-- stigation of Giulio De Zorzi he finally attained his goal. Sco-- res do not matter for the rest of the season now. For this se-- ason a column will be devoted every week to the history of our: local boys who are well known in sports. Bob Abate and Mike Sansone In looking over the prospects of men who have made names for themselves in the sporting world, two men come into the writer's mind, Bob Abate and Mike Sansone. These two gen-- tlemen are at the present time employed by the City Playgro-- unds in the capacity of super-- visors. It is their duty to teach young and old all branches of athletics. Naturally, to hold positions of this kind they must have necessary qualifications and this they have gained thro-- ugh their participation in sports. In their playing days Bob and Mike were adepts in sever-- al lines of athletics: Bob was very well known in rugby, foot-- ball, basketball and b a se b a 11 while Mike was an expert in Softball, track athletics and hockey. After they had retired from active competition, they commenced their duties as, co-- aches and the moulding of the characters of the younggters. In this field they have become leaders and at the present time their names are household words. They have guided nu-- merous, Dominion, Provincial and City Championship teams in the various sports. They ha-- ve developed several athletes who have gone on and made a niche for themselves in the pro-- fessional sport world. They ha-- ve instilled 'the fundamentals, the background and the initi-- ative of a host of boys who ha-- ve gone on into the business, professional and educational world as leaders. These two men exemplify the real type of Itali\an gentlemen and true sportsmen.. Editor's Note: LOOKING TH R 0 U G H THE SPORTING KEYHOLE that we go to meetings for a free meal. No, certainly not! Could you resist a cool glass of ginger ale or.... after a heat-- ed debate? Or a piece of cream pie? Tf the discussions become more heated than those past, it will take more than the usual to cool off the committee. It is a mighty difficult task to con-- vince some people. Keep your shirt on, boys. If you must learn to dance, get af-- ter the girls or your own sis-- ters. You don't expect them to chase after you. Besides the girls nowadays value their shoes and especially their feet. So get going. The boys are conducting a debate on the subject: "Resol-- ved that an academic education is of more value than a technic-- al one". Charlie Raccioppa will uphold the affirmative and H. Barone will consider the nega-- tive side of this question. Have this ready for next Sunday, boys. We are planning our first danee which will be held in the near future. We will let the public know more about this next week as it is now merely a suggestion . Next week, Frankie Genovese.
