- In the 19th and early 20th centuries, letterbooks were used in the Archdicoese of Toronto to copy the outgoing letters of the Ordinaries, their secretaries, and other administrators to keep a record of correspondence.
The same books were used to copy important documents such as pastoral letters and Roman decrees.
Also recorded were events like synods and ordinations, and information like Bishops' biographies. - Notes
- Letterbook 1: 1841-1936: Covers the administrations of Bishop Power, Bishop de Charbonnel, and Archbishop Lynch as well as copies of other notable documents, especially regarding the succession of the Ordinaries from Bishop Power to Archbishop McGuigan.
