Born in Wildfield, Ontario, in 1887, Rev. O'Reilly was ordained on September 29, 1912 at St. Jerome's College, Kitchener, ON.
In 1914, Rev. O'Reilly was studying at the Pontifical International Institute, "Angelicum" - Rome, Italy, where he obtained a Doctorate in Divinity, D.D.
Upon his return to Canada in September of 1914, he would become a Professor, (Senior Moral Theology, Ecclesiastical History, Philosophy) at St. Augustine's Seminary, Scarborough.
In June of 1925, Rev. O'Reilly was appointed as the Vice President of St. Augustine's Seminary. Together with his professorship, he would hold this post until his untimely death in Toronto on October 5, 1930.
