- Description
- The photo display board is dedicated to the death of Konstantin Bokan by starvation. Though the text is largely indecipherable, the photos are known to feature Konstantin’s place of death, corpse, funeral proceedings, and grave. For more information on the photos, view the “Related Features” section of this record. Only the uppermost photo is obscure and not found elsewhere in the case file, though it appears to feature Nikolai.
Nikolai Bokan’s criminal case file does not include a physical copy of this display board. The only indication of the display board’s previous existence is in a photo included in the file, in which Nikolai and his sons commemorate the death of Konstantin. The image of the display board featured in this record, is a zoomed-in version of that photo.
Given the sensitive nature of the photos and display boards that have survived, it is possible that those that are missing were destroyed for portraying events the Soviet authorities were determined to hide.
