On Friday forenoon, as Albert Downs, a farmer living near here, was returning to his home from the barn, he was met by his five-year-old daughter with her clothing wrapped in flames. He succeeded in putting the fire out, but the result of the burns, combined with the shock, was too much for the little one to overcome, and she died next day. She told her father she had put the poker into the stove, and it is supposed that, getting it red hot, she had withdrawn it, and that in doing so she ignited her clothing. She was a bright child and the only daughter. - Featured Link
