Limehouse resident Andrew Sisnett's passion for cooking has spurred him to launch a website devoted to recipes. Andrew Sisnett remembers loving to cook as far back as his mac `n cheese days when he was only six years old. Since then Sisnett's cooking skills have improved dramatically, and today the 18-year-old Limehouse resident's passion for cooking has inspired him to launch a website devoted to recipes. The site, www.recipesbyyou.com, has been up and running since December and currently offers more than 130 different recipes for such items as Broccoli Pasta, Cheeseburger Meatloaf and Chicken Shawarma. "When I get home its nice to cook a real meal," says Sisnett who boards weekdays at Appleby College in Oakville. Sisnett reviews each of the recipes and, with a team of cooks, makes them. If the recipes pass the taste test he uploads them to his website. The caveat Sisnett sticks by when weeding through the submitted recipes-- they have to be simple. The majority of them take less than 20 minutes to prepare. Simplicity is also one of the main goals Sisnett had in mind when he designed the site. "I wanted to make a website where you can submit recipes and you don't have to register," says Sisnett. "I wanted to make it simple." Most of the recipes have come from the Ontario area, but he has also received recipes from England and Barbados. A teacher from Czechoslovakia has also submitted a recipe for dumpling soup and a Venezuelan geologist sent in a recipe for fat free burritos. Sisnett came up with the idea for the recipe website one day in economics class and with the help of friends, classmates and teachers it wasn't long before the site became a reality. The Grade 12 student plans to go to Western University to study business next year. He hopes his website will inspire many university students to give his recipes a try when they are away at school.
