History is important, and Oakville has lots of it! Often priority is given to the history of decades long gone, but for those of us who have experiences in the more recent past (and for future generations to come), our memories of life in Oakville are greatly important.

Oakville's various community groups recognize this importance and through the Oakville Memories project wish to provide the community with a voice through which they can share their stories with others.

Whether they be memories of major historical events of our time, such as the Great Depression or World War II; fond memories of how you spent your childhood in our growing town; or recollections of moving to Oakville, these stories cover important memories that should be shared.

If you have lived, worked or visited Oakville and wish to share your stories, please send your typed submissions - along with dates and photos - to the Oakville Historical Society by email (information@oakvillehistory.org) or mail to the Oakville Historical Society,110 King Street Oakville, ON L6J 1B1. You may also drop off your submissions at your local Oakville Public Library branch. If for any reason you have problems submitting a typed copy, please contact the Oakville Historical Society to make other arrangements.

Due to an overwhelming volume, not all stories will be able to be displayed; however, we appreciate and encourage all submissions.
