SAD FATAL ACCIDENT.
John Scott Killed on the Grand
Trunk Railway.
WHISKEY THE CAUSE.
A sad fatal accident occurred on the G. T. railway, about half a mile east of this village last night, resulting in the death of Mr. John Scott, a farmer who had lived on lot 24, con. 4, Esquesing, for many years past. Deceased had left the village late on the evening under the influence of liquor, and proceeded down the railroad track towards home, and it is supposed that being overcome with the effects of the liquor, he laid down on the track, and a western bound train striking him in the head fractured his skull, killing him instantly. The body was found by Mr. R. Elliott, as he was on his way to work at Tolton's mill, about 6.30 this morning. He must have been killed several hours before Mr. Elliott found him, as the blood from the wound had frozen in icicles about the head. Deceased was about 50 years of age, and leaves a wife and family. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their heavy affliction.
