- Fatal Accident.
From the Herald we glean that Mr. Gilean McLean, of Esquesing, met with his death near Georgetown on the N. & N.W. Railway. It is said he had indulged very freely in intoxicants, and walking along the track fell across the rails, in which position he dropped asleep. The engineer on an approaching train saw him, but was unable either to stop his train or rouse the man. The train passed over his leg a little above the ankle, and also inflicted a scalp wound. Every effort was put forth to save his life, but all was ineffectual. He died from loss of blood shortly after his leg was amputated at the knee joint. He leaves a family of boys and girls, his wife having died some time ago. Deceased was about 60 years of age. - Featured Link
