Mr. L. D. Crewson, of East Luther, visited friends here last week. His many friends here sympathise with him in his sad bereavement, the loss of his estimable wife. About a month ago Mrs. Crewson underwent an operation in Fergus, having three sections of the backbone removed to overcome an adhesion of the spinal cord, which had brought on total paralysis. The operation was successfully performed, feeling was returning to the limbs as rapidly as could be expected, and there was a hopeful prospect of her full recovery. But she took a turn for the worse about the 24th October and gradually sank until she breathed her last four days later. Deceased was the second daughter of Mr. George Coram, of West Luther, was born in Devonshire, England, in 1841, coming to Canada with her parents in 1849. When in her 17th year she was married to Mr. L. D. Crewson, of Crewson's Corners. After several years spent on a portion of the old homestead, her husband bought 270 acres in West Luther, leaving their first farm to their eldest son Oscar. Of their family of 17 - 9 boys and 8 girls - their are fourteen still living; four sons being engaged in the grain business in Manitoba. There are four sons and two daughters married and the rest are living at home, with the exception of two sons in Manitoba. Deceased was a devoted member of the Disciple Church. She was highly respected in the neighborhood and greatly beloved by her bereaved husband and family, who are now grief-stricken over her death. - Featured Link
