Death of John Kennedy, Esq.
After seven weeks of intense suffering death came at last to Mr. John Kennedy, residing at lot 20, con. 5, Nassagaweya, last Wednesday evening. A couple of months ago Mr. Kennedy suffered from a paralytic stroke followed by an abscess at the base of the brain. Mr. Kennedy was a native of the North of Ireland, was born there in 1830 and came to Canada with his father in 1843. After a year or so spent in Quebec the family settled in Hamilton. Deceased learned the plastering business and folowed it for several years in Hamilton and then removed to Acton. He resided here until 18 years ago when he moved to a farm in Nassagaweya. His last job was the new front put on Mr. Jno. Agnew's store and dwelling about two months ago. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Nassagaweya. His wife, who is a daughter of Mr. Thos. Bell, Nassagaweya, and his six children, Rachel, Thomas, Mrs. Thos. Morton, Milton, Jennie, John and Charlie, survive him. The funeral last Friday was very largely attended, and was conducted by Rev. A. Blair, B.A. Six nephews, Messrs. Jeremiah, Alex, and Thomas Bell, and Angus, John and Frank Kennedy acted as bearers.
