Sudden Death of Mr. T. Milburn.
Mr. Thomas Milburn, head of the firm of T. Milburn & Co., manufacturers of proprietary medicines, Toronto, died very suddenly last Friday morning of heart failure at his residence, No. 10 Brunswick Avenue. Mr. Milburn was at business on Monday, and while feeling indisposed during the past few days, his friends had no suspicion that his death was so near. The morning before his death he appeared to be fairly well. Shortly after 8 o'clock Mrs. Milburn found him in a dying condition. Doctors were summoned, but could do nothing for him. Mr. Milburn was one of Toronto's successful business men. He was born on King Street on Sept. 26, 1837, and received his early education in that city. About the year 1865 he started the patent medicine business at Acton, and built up a successful trade here. The field, however, was too narrow for him, and in 1872 he moved to Toronto and established a manufctory in conjunction with Messrs. Bentley and Pearson on Francis Street. The business, though it underwent several changes, has since prospered with much satisfaction. Mrs. Milburn and four grown up sons survive him. Mr. Milburn was in Acton the Saturday before his death to view the remains of his former partner Mr. J. B. Pearson, and attended the funeral on Tuesday.
