Death of James Goldie, Guelph
In the death of James Goldie, Guelph, on Sunday morning, one whose name is familiar in almost every home in this section, passed away. Mr. Goldie was a native of Ayshire, Scotland, and was in his eighty-eighth year. He settled in Guelph in 1860, and for more than fifty years conducted a milling business, which has grown to be one of the most successful in Ontario. He was a man of fine business capacity and occupied numerous positions of trust. He was President of the Millers and Manufacturers Insurance Company and Vice-President of the Wellington Fire Insurance Company. He was a member and a liberal supporter of the Congregational Church. His wife pre-deceased him four years ago. Three sons survive. The funeral on Tuesday was largely attended.
