OBITUARY
JOHN DENNY
One of the landmarks of his generation was removed when John Denny passed away on Thursday morning at his home on the fourth line, Esquesing. Mr. Denny had been in poor health for some time from heart trouble. During the past summer he gradually became weaker and for a month was confined to the house. He was an industrious, hard-working farmer and always enjoyed his work. His industry brought him well-earned success. He loved his home and home surroundings and with his greatly beloved partner in life they made their home a place well worthy of the name. John Denny was the son of the late Robert Denny, of Churchill, and lived within sight of his birthplace all his life. In March, 1878, he married Jennie I. Chisholm, daughter of the late John Chisholm. For thirty-eight years they have lived happily together. Six sons and daughters came to bless their home, and the father's death is the first break in the family. The daughters are Mrs. Fred Ryder, Mrs. Peter Murray, Mrs. Arthur Swackhamer, and Miss Nora Alberta at home, and the sons Fred and Everet. All are settled within a mile or so of the old home. Mr. Denny was a man of sterling character, a member of the Congregational Church and a regular attendant at its services. The funeral on Sunday afternoon was one of the largest ever seen in the vicinity. The services were conducted by Revs. Wilson and Jones, of Acton, and the remains were laid at rest beside those of his father in the Churchill Cemetery.
