Female top gun fighter pilot to speak in Georgetown

Major Dee Brasseur, one of two Canadian women to be the first female fighter pilots in the world, will speak at the Cultural Centre at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, (March 7) compliments of the Georgetown Canadian on to Cold Lake Alberta as Flight Commander of a T-33 Silver Star Jet Squadron and then onto fly both the CF5 Freedom Fighter and CF-18 Hornet. In 1999 Major Brasseur was recognized for her citizenship and contribution to Canada with receipt of the Order of Canada. Today Major Brasseur continues with the Canadian Forces as an air reservist at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa and as a professional motivational speaker making presentations to various groups all across North America. The public is invited to attend the presentation. Admission is free. This is an opportunity, especially for teens and young adults to hear firsthand from an accomplished speaker about challenging career opportunities and the importance of setting goals. Major Brasseur will also be speaking to the students of Centennial Public School earlier in the day.
