Ma Public School Board Women made an auspiciousi entry into civic life at the Munici-c pal elections of Monday, wben thet two candidates of the f air sex head- ed the poils in the Public School ( Trustees elections. Mrs. J. W.2 Jewell, who headed the poli withc 948 votes, secured the highest num-E ber of votes accorded any candidate1 for any office in the municipal ec-c tion. The vote was flot only a per-t sonal tribute to Mrs. Jeweii, but an evidence of the publi's approval ofi women serving on the school board. For the information of our out of town readers we might state that Mrs. Jewell. was before ber marriage Edna Fielding, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Fielding, and aj most successful and popular memberii of the Public School teaching staff-, being a lady we'll not say bow many1 years ago. Mrs. W. A. Shane, whose husband also made a successfui bld for a counicil seat, came second in the list for Trustees with 720 votes. the fourth bighest number of votes poil- ed by any candidate in the contests.
