Mrs. Byron Bart- ley and' Mrs. Elgin Bartley, two daughters-in-law, arsisted in re- ceiving, and delightfully entertain- ing the guests, about twenty being present. Social converse, a guessing contest and a dainty lunch provlded a real afternoon's enjoyment. Mrs. Bartley was the recipient of a nuin- ber of suitable gifts in honor of this unique occasion - the eighty-first birthday coming to only a few. Mrs. Bartiey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Grahamn, pioneers of Cartwright township. Durham coun- ty. was married to John Bartley in 1894. a farmer of that district. Here they llved tLE 1900 when they came to Manitoba and took a farm in the Roland district. and after f arrning succes-sfully for twenty-two years they retired to town where Mr. Bartley died in 1930.
