Report from municipal engineer was read rekarcUng Mail Route No. 2, stating that the piece of road in question does not warrant being kept open, because of the expense entailed. Request for donation of $10.00 to Durham Junior Farmers was granted. A letter stating that a further report would be made re the im- proving of bridge over C.N.R. be- tween lots 8 and 9, B.F., after an inspection had been made. One hospital case was accepted. The lot on which the Milligan monument is to be erected in Newtonville was turned over to the Township and the Clerk in- structed to make the necessary correspondence with the Dept. of Highways. A request for permission to eut trees on certain pieces of town- ship roads was left for the Road Superintendent and Clerk to deal with. C. F. Awde made his report of tax collections for 1945, and it was the best he has ever been able to make. He reported that $2,- 024.03 was still outstanding, but this has since been reduced to be- low $1,900.00. A by-law appointing C. F. Awde as Tax Collector for 1946 was passed and salary set at $350.00. Resolution referring to Town- ship ownership of Lot on which the Milligan monument is to be rebuilt was passed.
