Morley brought an interesting item to The Statesman this week. H-is broker had given it to bim. It was a strip of metallized "Mylar" plastic film, the same as used in the big U. S. balloon now whizzing around in orbit, 1,000 miles up. The material was developed by Standard Packaging of New York and samples were sent out to ail company share- holders with a copy of the yearly report. The material is fantastically strong, but only one-baîf of one one-thousandths thick, wbich is one-baîf the tbickness of the wrapping on a package of cigar- ettes. For the satellite, the package weighed 125 pounds, was 2612 inches in diameter, but expanded to the height of a 10-storey building. Many local citizens have seen it as it speeds across the sky. t. i. t i.t i.
