Such was the outcome of a farcical game of Midget basebail played here Saturday afier-ý faon. We understand that several fans asked for their money iback, unable to understand how Walkerton defeated the locals so easily up there, and yet looked sa poor i the second encounter. This reporter checked with Manager Murray McKnight and discovered that the Walkerton club brought down several Pee Wee players, using only a few of thefr first- strmngers. The rest of the Midgets were busy playing for the Juveniles back in Walkerton. The Bowmanville management were just as miffed as the spectators, sending a protest ta the O.B.A. on the failure of Walkerton ta play their best team. It states i the rule book that a player mnust perform with the team he is signed with, in the eventuality of two different classes i which he participates, playing at the same time (or words to that effect). The Walkerton Juveniles apparently anly had four or five of that age group and were unable ta field a team without the Midgets. The protest resulted in the Walkerton Juveniles being tossed out. Mr. McKnight stated that he knows this tun of events wilI put him in a bad light with the opposing fans. However, he expressed his hope that the Bowmanville Midgets will brush off whatever abuse may be thrown their way, and play the game, win or lose, as true sportsmen. He asked us ta present the facts concerning last Saturday's game ta the fans who were in attendance, and this we hope ta have done. By the way, the score was 22-15 after Bowmanville had trailed, at one time, 10-1. t t t f. t GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS As this reporter was away for the weekend and had a great deal of writing to catch up, we hope you will forgive us for delaying the story on Sunday's golf championship until next week. t t t t t BEAT THE CHAMP George Elliott, manager of Liberty Bowl, has came up with a new innovation, which should prove papular ta local bowlers. On Monday nights following regular league action a one-game roll-off will be held ta determine the Ladies' House Champ for each week. The same deal will go for the men on Wednesday nights. Winner of the ladies' title for this week is Bernice Buday with'a score of 279. A minimum of 20 entries are nequired to bowl for a minimum prize of $5.00. Thc more entries - the higher the prize. No entny fee is required - cach bowler pays only fan the game with Liberty Bowl putting up the prize. EXTRA! Solina defeated Courtice 2-1 ini the second game of the Junior Soccer final series.
